To recreate a capstan from a tap joint, please refer to the adequate section in the main menu.

Then open the Cj according to the service manual procedure.
  • Wipe off as much goo as you can.
  • DO NOT TOUCH THESE!! I did it and I regret it!
  • You may use CAUTIOUSLY an X-Acto blade.
  • And finish the work with Isopropylic Alcohol.
  • When you get a clean roller without capstan...
  • Also clean the head with a cotton swab & isopropyl alcohol
  • Yes, it's hard, but it's feasible.
  • Put the new capstan on the roller with a DROPLET of Superglue.
